The use of laughter and humor in this reading was so stunning! It seemed like casual speech, as though I was listening to a real soldier talking about trivial daily activities. The speedy pace in the beginning made the “dropped back dead” that much more of a gut punch. The opposite emotions that you express in your reading really contribute to the essence of this piece. The contrast in your reading illustrates the poem’s purpose rather beautifully!
